Enclosed Porch turned Speakeasy

As you may remember, when I moved into my apartment, this odd room needed to be the first thing updated. It was so small and dark, it was considered a bonus room off of the dining area, much like a butlers pantry. With a fresh coat of white paint and some added decor, it transformed into a cozy nook.

After my recent refresh of the living room and dining area, I had an idea of redoing this tiny room and giving it a speakeasy bar vibe. I usually play it safe when it comes to paint color but I decided to take a risk and opted for the color Black Fox by Sherwin Williams….I mean how perfect of a name.

The room had a random wall of mirrors which I’m assuming was from the 80’s. While I didn’t want to remove the mirrors, I thought it would be a cool added element to transform the mirrors into mercury glass. I used a variety of spray paints and alcohol inks which created the mercury glass effect. It was super easy and the end result was amazing!

Once the room was painted and mercury glass added, it instantly gave the area a moody vibe. I added an IKEA unit that I DIY’d a while back (it fit perfectly), a textured rug, a record player, and some vintage decor. Since it is such a small space, I could only do so much but changing up the paint + decor made such a huge impact.
