Soda Fired Celadon Vase 7-8"

Wheel thrown, classic vase shapes with thicker/sturdy rims. A dark clay was used for these, with various local clay slips being applied to some afterwards. A celadon glaze made of local granite and wood ash was applied to the top 1/3. During the firing in a soda kiln, the soda ash makes the glaze run more than normal, creating the rivulets and dramatic drip marks down the sides. Colors of the glaze are generally green but have some variance in them, with a dark clay body underneath.
