Ombre Textured Studio Pottery Vase, United States, 1970s

A beautifully sculptural hand-thrown studio pottery vase with a distinctive double-gourd silhouette and richly textured surface. Bands of crosshatched and incised patterning wrap around the upper and lower lobes, interrupted by smooth thrown sections in a warm amber and honey glaze that fades to a deeper caramel at the base. The narrow neck and small opening make this an ideal display piece on its own or as a bud vase. A wonderful example of expressive American studio ceramics.
