Vintage Makou Ginger Jar

$95

Crafted from the red clay earth characteristic to the Makou Town region, these jars are typical wares of this scenic community. Flanked by the Han River to the north and Baishi Lake to the south, the region has been creating earthenware for centuries for the storage of common goods.

The Makou Ginger Jar was used more often to hold salt than its namesake spicy herb. Each jar is handmade and has its own unique characteristics based on its lifetime of use. Each jar varies in size and condition. Vintage pieces will always vary in different areas such as size, tone, color, patina and design, depending on the item.
