A large and commanding studio pottery vase of exceptional decorative quality, its generous ovoid body with a short collar neck finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze and decorated with a bold all-over design of brushed white slip marks in an energetic, calligraphic pattern that covers the entire surface. The marks range from looping, serpentine forms to tight scrolls and spiralling curls, creating a lively and expressive visual field. The banded neck is glazed in clean white.
