Large French Confit Pot, France, Early 20th Century

A large and commanding French confit pot of considerable presence, its generous ovoid body finished in a rich mahogany brown glaze that pools and darkens beautifully toward the base. Two small loop handles flank the wide rim, and the piece carries an impressed number on the shoulder indicating its original production capacity. The wheel-throwing marks are visible throughout the body, and the glazed interior is in excellent condition. A wonderful piece for use as a planter, utensil holder, or purely as a decorative object with significant floor presence.
