A footed tramp art box built from layers of hand-chip-carved wood, its stepped silhouette rising to a domed lid topped with a small red bead pull. The front panel is inlaid with a diamond of light and dark wood marquetry depicting the four playing card suits, a charming and rare decorative touch. A wonderful example of American folk art craftsmanship. An otter brownn mohair inlay has been added on top.
