Carved Wood Swan Marble Top Console Table, France, Early 20th Century

This Empire-style console table pairs a pale veined marble top with a rich dark wood base and beautifully carved swan heads. Curved crossed supports and a turned stretcher lend the piece an elegant rhythm, with small metal accents highlighting the joinery. A distinctive addition to an entryway or living room, its sculptural details feel equally considered from the front and sides.
