A beautifully crafted brass and copper checkerboard tray of considerable decorative appeal, its alternating squares of warm brass and verdigris-patinated copper engraved with a repeating Greek key spiral motif. The oxidized copper squares have developed a rich turquoise and earthy red patina that creates a striking contrast with the golden brass, while the wide border carries its own worn patina that speaks to decades of display and handling.
