Tiny Room Makeover

When I moved into my current apartment, I knew this odd room needed to be the first thing updated. It was so small, dark and reminded me of a room you would see in an old horror movie, hence why I gave it the title of: the horror movie room! This room is considered a bonus room off of the dining area, much like a butlers pantry.

After doing some brainstorming, I knew I wanted to transform the room into a cozy nook with an added bar area. I was not a fan of the dark wood and my landlord gave me permission to repaint the wood paneled walls white. This simple update made the dining room and this bonus room feel more connected. The white paint seriously brightened up the entire room, I used my go-to color Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore.

I wanted some type of seating within the room and I thought a bench would be perfect for under the window. I DIY’d a simple bench using a template from a YouTube video I watched, you can watch the full tutorial here. I stained it a dark finish to match the window trim. By adding some pillows, a rug, plants and decor it instantly brought the room to life.

Within the room you can find a selection of my favorite coffee table books, a bluetooth speaker for music, a basket filled with games and a bar area where you can make cocktails. These small updates transformed this once scary room into a cozy little nook off the dining room. You can watch the full transformation and links to all the products shown below:
