2nd Story Entryway

When walking up to the 2nd floor of my home, you are greeted by a little entryway. It’s a very small space but I wanted to blend in Winston’s doggy door and create a little vibe. It’s the upstairs connecting point that connects the dining room, living room + hallway.

Prior to adding Winston’s doggy door, it was a small closet. I removed the door and it created a little opening nook. It actually worked out perfectly because it already had a small window and it added a cute little detail to the area. I replaced the original door trim with a more fluted trim to add some detailing. I actually ended up painting the landing 2 different colors, the first color I selected ended up being too dark. The final color was Smoked Trout by Farrow & Ball, which fit the space perfectly.

I wanted to hide Winston’s doggy door, so I utilized a table top I already had and cut it down to fit inside and create an entry table. I decorated it with some coffee table books, a candle, flowers and a little trinket dish. Perfect to throw your keys on and just a cute little nook to display some of my favorite decor pieces.

The finishing touch of the space was the hall tree I found on Facebook Marketplace for $150! It leans a little more french but the light that was original to the home, is french so it only made sense to add it. I thought it would look so cool in the hallway and would be the perfect wall decor accent. It almost looks built in but all I had to do was mount it to the wall. I love the piece and thought it added such a beautiful touch to the entryway.

This  fun, quick little project made such a difference. I love walking upstairs and seeing the beautifully decorated tabletop and utilizing the hall tree! I feel like all the rooms flow so nicely from the landing/entryway.
